Hiskey Family Reunion
Here's a cute picture of two of the family redheads. Jenzie and Colin sure do love Uncle Kyle. This picture was taken on Kyle's 18th birthday.
It never fails. You try to get a nice picture of Grandma and Aunt Stef, and inevitably someone thinks it will be really funny to jump in. Of course, you notice that I'm putting in that picture instead of the nice "just smiling" picture. I guess Gary's theory is correct, the picture is more fun if he jumps in and sticks out his tongue.
Believe it or not, Colin is not trying to hit Papa Taylor over the head with a baseball bat. It looks like he's trying to hold him up for all of that candy that's about to come shooting out of the candy cannon. We can't know for sure what was going through his mind, but I think it's safe to assume that he's just playing with a bat like any normal two-year-old would do. You'll be happy to hear that Papa made it through the day with no bodily harm (at least from any of my children).
Here's a picture of our family rocket, named the "Hudson Hornet." It's embarrassing to admit, but it was supposed to be a fish, until we got to the end of the project and realized that it looked much more like a hornet or a bee. It's a good thing we're flexible. We won't discuss how well our rocket flew.
We now have documented proof that one of Colin's biggest talents is covering himself in dirt. The picture doesn't even come close to showing how dirty our little man can get. He had so much dirt in his hair that it looked like he had dyed the roots black and kept the blond ends. When we tried to rinse his hair off under the tap, it made mud. But what's camping for?
Here's a picture of Colin and I at the Hiskey Family Reunion at Castle Rock. This is one of those great "take it yourself" shots, and I'm not sure if Colin knew what was going on.
We had a hard time deciding if we should go to the reunion or not because we weren't sure if Jarom was ready for camping. In the end, Gary's cousin Jeff talked us into coming by offering to have Jarom and I stay at Aunt Lynette's house with Tameron and her baby, and Grandma Hiskey. We were really glad that we decided to go.

At the Zoo
Here's Jenzie, Colin, and Gary sitting by a GIANT elephant at the zoo. That morning before we left, we heard that one of the elephants had a birthday and turned 49 the day before. When we went to the elephant show they said that the elephant was 49 years old, so we knew it was the one who had a birthday. We told the kids, and Colin and Jenzie immediately started singing "Happy Birthday" at the top of their lungs. Jenzie only lasted a few rounds of the song, but Colin kept singing, "Happy Birthday big elephant" for at least 10 minutes.

Every time we go to the zoo, we have to get a picture with the giraffes. We wanted this to be a complete family picture, but Jarom was asleep in the stroller, and since I'm not an idiot, we decided not to wake him up. Jenzie and Colin were more interested in the free piece of candy they had just received than the picture.
Even Jarom had fun at the zoo. I got this picture while we were waiting for the bird show to start, and we all had a great time watching the birds swoop over head and do tricks. Gary was disappointed that he never got picked as a volunteer because they were giving away coupons for free Chocolate Milk (which happens to be a family favorite).
Starting a new blog
We finally have the internet in our home, and the first thing people said to me is, "You have to start a blog." I guess we must be pretty popular. I have hundreds of pictures of our family, and only nap time to blog in, so it could take awhile to catch up. Fortunately, all three of my kids usually nap at the same time, so I should be able to find some time to work on it (of course my house may never get cleaned again).
This is a picture of our family on the day that Jarom was blessed. Jenzie and Colin are wearing their "say cheese" faces, which is about the only thing we get any more unless you catch them in the moment. Personally, I still think they're pretty cute.
